Artist’s Statement
My creative practice is rooted in the delicate balance between architecture’s structure and the fluidity of color, light, and emotion. With nearly three decades of exploration, I craft works that serve as visual narratives—layered, vibrant, and expressive—that invite viewers to experience environments and atmospheres in a deeply personal way.
My journey began during my studies in architecture at Yale University, where a fascination with spatial design, the interplay of form and light, and the meticulous organization of environment shaped my worldview. After years of professional practice and living abroad—first in London—I took a transformative pause to dedicate myself fully to painting. This leap of faith led to a solo exhibition that reaffirmed my belief in art as a language, a form of storytelling that transcends words.
Throughout my career, my work has evolved through diverse themes—from exploring the lyrical quality of color combinations and abstract forms to figurative compositions within architectural spaces. My recent series inspired by Santorini, Greece, marks a departure into abstraction while maintaining a connection to place and emotion. These pieces attempt to capture the essence, mood, and aura of a landscape—relying on color, texture, and composition to evoke memory and feeling.
Each artwork begins with a deliberate process of pattern assembly and color selection, drawing from cultural narratives and personal experience. I source materials from India—rich textiles and fabrics—that I personally select during visits, ensuring each piece embodies authenticity and a sense of cultural storytelling. The materials are then transformed through my hands—sewn, layered, manipulated—to create textures and visual rhythms that reflect my architectural sensibility: structured yet spontaneous, deliberate yet expressive.
Creating art is an act of slow craftsmanship, an intentional process that values quality, detail, and the story behind each piece. Every artwork I produce is handmade, one-of-a-kind, and infused with my personal vision. My approach embodies a commitment to slow fashion and artistic integrity—rejecting mass production in favor of meaningful, collectible pieces.
My work is a dialogue between tradition and innovation, culture and personal narrative. Whether through paintings, collages, or textiles, each series is an exploration—an ongoing journey fueled by curiosity, experimentation, and a love for the creative process. My goal is to craft artworks that resonate beyond aesthetics—they aim to evoke emotion, spark imagination, and foster a connection between viewer and piece.
I am deeply honored to have had opportunities to share my work with a wide audience—from exhibitions and commissions, including one for HRH The Queen of England, to features in prominent magazines. Today, I live and work in Atlanta, Georgia, where I teach at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Through my teaching, I strive to inspire others to find their voice and embrace their creative journey.
